Diagnostic Radiologic Technician (Angiography)

The Radiology Interventional Diagnostic Technologist has the overall responsibility for the coordination and performance of the Interventional Radiology suite. He/she works closely with technologists, radiologists, clinicians, department managers and clerical staff to assure optimum quality control, efficient coordination of activities, high quality diagnostic/therapeutic exam results, and patient satisfaction. Major Duties:
Performs routine and complex Neurology, PV and general body diagnostic Interventional imaging by properly identifying the patient, maintaining proper IR safety precautions, sterile technique and properly assisting and instructing the patient both prior to, during and after the exam. Demonstrates competency in all interventional, diagnostic and therapeutic exams. Maintains effective control of the Interventional Radiology area by coordinating, planning, organizing and executing the work potential to expedite workflow patterns within the department. Serves as the liaison between Radiology and Biomedical Engineering and repair contractors. Performs routine clerical procedures for the purpose of maintaining accurate records. Performs routine and complex neurology angiography (EFO's, carotid and vertebral stenting), peripheral and visceral angiography of the abdominal systems and extremities i.e. renal, hepatic, mesenteric, aortic, femoral, etc. Works with the radiologist as a member of the radiographic team. Responsible for stocking and inventory of all angiography supplies and related materials. Continually reviews and submits recommendations for new developments in the field of diagnostic and angiography fluoroscopy. Performs other related duties as assigned. Work Schedule:

All applicants must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) (R). (COPY OF CERTIFICATION REQUIRED) EDUCATION:
Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months duration (or the equivalent) in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an associate's degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or from schools accredited by the ARRT and certification by the ARRT in radiology. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) Interventional Technologists use specialized equipment to perform diagnostic angiographic procedures and complex vascular and nonvascular interventional and therapeutic procedures. This specialty requires additional knowledge of vascular systems and major vessel anatomy. The technologist must be knowledgeable in the specialized equipment employed for digital subtraction systems and interventional procedures. The technologist administers contrast media under the supervision of the staff radiologist and confers with the radiologist to establish requirements regarding contrast agents, vital signs, medications, and physiologic monitoring to perform procedures. IR technologist must be knowledgeable in digital imagining and PACS. GS-9 GRADE REQUIREMENTS:
Must have at least 1 year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-8) directly related to the position being filled that demonstrates the clinical competencies described at that level. GS-9 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The candidate must demonstrate the following technical KSAs:
1) Ability to balance the needs of patients and staff while still performing complex scans and procedures. 2) Skill to demonstrate appropriate techniques to gather relevant information from the medical record, significant others, and health care providers. 3) Ability to assess factors that may contraindicate the procedure. 4) Knowledge of basic first aid and basic life support practices related to radiography. 5) Knowledge of physical assessment, aseptic techniques, intravenous methods and techniques and universal precautions. 6) Knowledge of pre-procedural, procedural, and post-procedural care of patients. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
