Health System Specialist (Credentialing & Privileging)

The Health System Credentialing & Privileging Specialist is assigned to the Medical Staff Office, which is under the Chief of Staff at the VA Medical Center (VAMC) and is responsible for providing administrative and technical direction and support to the credentialing and privileging (C&P) operations. The Medical Staff Office is responsible for the C&P process of VAMC clinical services providers including full-time, part-time, temporary, intermittent, contract, without compensation (WOC), fee basis and telehealth Licensed Independent Providers (LIP's). Health System Credentialing & Privileging Specialist Duties Include:
- Serves as an SME in the field of credentials and clinical privileging. - Receives and reviews correspondence and communication for the C&P function. - Ensures accurate provider data is entered and maintained in the VetPro computer program. - Ensures content is present on providers relative to licensure enrollments and renewals. - Manages provider applications. - Provides guidance and instruction to VA hospital staff in completing the required documentation. - Assures application packages and other documents meet technical requirements. - Analyzes and manages issues related to documents that do not meet expected requirements, regulations or guidelines. - Ensures LIP's credential files are accurate and current. - Conducts audits of provider time-limited credentials. - Organizes computer data sets. - Researches and reviews related literature and regulations of current requirements in credentialing and privileging. - Prepares agendas for credentials related meetings. - Develops and provides reports for the C&P Manager. - Creates automated system to track project milestones, progress reports and compliance strategies. - Maintains confidentiality of information in accordance with the Privacy Act in releasing information. - Additional duties or tasks may be assigned by the supervisor to ensure efficient daily operations. Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-9 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-7. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note:

GS-9 SPECIALIZED REQUIRMENTS:
Experience:
Must possess at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade GS-07 that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field. This work may have been performed in an operating health care facility or a higher organizational echelon with advisory or directional authority over such facilities. Work must have involved a close working relationship with facility managers and analysis and/or coordination of administrative, clinical, or other service activities, and provided knowledge of the following:
Missions, organizations, programs, and requirements of health care delivery systems; Regulations and standards of various regulatory and credentialing groups; and Government-wide, agency, and facility systems and requirements in various administrative areas such as budget, personnel, and procurement. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Ability to communicate orally technical information to a diverse group of individuals with varying levels of understanding; Knowledge of medical terminology, medical specialties and core privileges; Skill in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques; Knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, policies and precedents, accreditation standards and guidelines; Knowledge of VetPro policies; Skill in using software applications such as word processing and data bases; Attention to detail to analyze applications, documents, files and other material pertaining to the C&P program. Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a master's or equivalent graduate degree OR two (2) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. You must have a combination of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience as described above. The work is mostly sedentary. Occasionally, light physical effort may be required, such as that involved with walking, stair climbing and carrying of light office items. Work Environment:

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster.
