PURPOSE OF ROLE:

TheBusiness Development Manager will initiate and drive all phases of thebusiness-development life cycle, including marketing, opportunity generation,qualification, close, and post-close debrief.

Grow the existing channel, identify and develop newcustomer contacts, and expand the business.

The primary interface between customers and the laserengineering, manufacturing, and logistics functions for all opportunities.

Location - Flexible, base Madison, WI

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES & MAINTASKS

  • Development, cultivation, and maintenance ofcustomer relationships with key decision makers in engineering, research &development, product management and procurement to ensure effectivecommunication for timely/accurate decision making, continued customersatisfaction and successful partnering
  • Managing customer expectations to ensure thecontractual, financial and customer satisfaction objectives are met
  • Aggressively identify and grow new businessopportunities
  • Recognize market needs and opportunities,creating a sustainable competitive advantage
  • Work across customers, internal engineering andbusiness unit management on new product roadmap and new product design
  • Support and lead customer meetings, conferencecalls, and program design reviews with presentations addressing all areas ofresponsibility (feasibility, technical issues, timeline, delivery, etc.)
  • Coordinates with internal sales, applicationsengineering and marketing to execute sales plan
  • Develop value proposition selling strategies forthe laser applications the designated region

PERSONSPECIFICATION

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of five years of technical sales,customer development and internal project management experience in the lasermarket

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Working knowledge of marketing concepts,contract development, negotiation strategies, and project management techniquesalso desired
  • The ability to discuss laser and optical systemstechnology, parameters, specifications, and tolerances
  • Ability to manage multiple projects andpriorities simultaneously

PERSONAL QUALITIES

  • Use of a consultative selling approach; abilityto ask strategic questions to discover areas of need
  • Experience collaborating directly withmultidisciplinary engineering staffs to provide customer solutions
  • Pro-active and capable of working without directsupervision
  • Travel up to 30% to customers, events, Etc.Without restriction, both in US, Europe, and Asia
  • Candidate must be self-motivated and able towork in a fully autonomous environment
  • Leadership qualities or potential to developsuch skills in short time-frame
  • Good Communication skills
  • Decisive, accurate, creative and forwardthinking

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Bachelors of Science Degree; field ofOptical Engineering, Physics, or a related a plus

NICE TO HAVE

  • 10+ years general business developmentexperience in the photonics or laser market
  • Knowledge of and experience with financialmanagement and expenditure control preferred
  • Prepared to be flexible in working hours to suitbusiness needs, may need to work outside of normal office hours
  • Strategic thinking, taking into account industryadvancement (external influences) and developing business policies

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
