Our client engineers coating solutions are designed to meet the surface requirements unique to their customers' needs. These coatings are used in the medical, mining, aerospace and defense industries. They are growing and need another R&D Engineer who will coordinate between the R&D Department, Sales, Engineering, Quality Control, Production, and customers to meet the customers' requirements. You will manage R&D projects to ensure they are progressing through the system and goals are met. The company is located in the Madison area and is a great place to raise a family.
Requirements:
BS Materials Engineering or a closely related field

years' experience in research, engineering, or thermal spray environment
Strong understanding of metals and coatings, knowledge of Plasma, Flame, HVOF (High Velocity Oxygen Fuel) or EAS (Electric Arc Spray) would be very helpful
Good project management skills and ability to interact with senior management, R&D technicians, Sales, Engineering, and Quality Control
Excellent communication, troubleshooting skills
Experience with statistical analysis tools, SPC, DOE, etc. preferred
Duties:
Project Management:
Manage R&D projects so that they stay on track to meet goals and delivery dates
Act as a liaison between internal/external customers and projects
Follow-up, lead, and delegate tasks/duties in the R&D group
Help gather data and report findings
Testing and characterization:
Evaluation of coatings including SEM, EDS, XRD, XRF, impact, wear, bond strength, etc.
Failure analysis from production and the field.
Identify and source testing services not available within FBG, e.g. ASTM C633, ASTM B117, etc.
Scheduling:
Work with Sales and Technology Director to set priorities for R&D Technicians
Schedule booth time to meet agreed upon priorities.
Coordinate outside resources to meet R&D objectives.
Responsible for setting up R&D jobs
Conduct literature research to help advance R&D projects
