This position is a technical role providing input and execution of new products within the Oscar Mayer Snacking category. The position will work with cross-functional team members to collaborate and execute projects by coordinating development through suppliers and cross-BU partners. The role focuses on leading projects and providing technical solutions that deliver on the BU strategies.
In this position, the successful candidate will have a technical foundation and some project management experience. They will be expected to build effective relationships with business partners to move new projects forward and commercialize products, as well as helping to uncover new opportunities that may drive category growth. They should be comfortable offering solutions based upon project data and leveraging internal and external resources to help solve technical issues.
The candidate should be able work effectively with new product development, learn NPD tools, and then be able to apply them. The candidate must exhibit a collaborative mindset and apply innovation solutions as well as be able to manage multiple assignments / tasks concurrently.
Primary
Responsibilities:
Lead, plan, communicate, and execute project objectives
Conduct analysis of results and translate into actionable recommendations.
Provide process ideas, concept ideas, bench top samples and technical guidance to project teams early in the product development process
Establish solid project plans, lead project meetings, and leverage technical experts to guide the development process
Act as a key member of cross-functional teams,providing technical expertise, specifications and appropriate linkages back to the RDQ community.
Manage and build strong relationships with business partners in operations, finance, marketing, procurement, other functions, and suppliers
Start to build strategic business skills
B.S. or M.S. in Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, Food Science, Nutrition or another related degree
3-5 years in a technical function
Willing to travel 25%
Must be timely and consistent communicator providing clear and concise information with the ability to follow through
Knowledge of the interrelationship of product,process, and packaging
Knowledge of ingredient functionality impact on physical, chemical, stability, rheology attributes
Ability to assess new / unique ingredients or to find new uses for current ingredients
Understanding of unit operations and engineering principles
Ability to plan and design well thought out setting procedures, design of experiments, and anticipate next steps and potential problems along with solutions
Knowledge of chemistry of food products,analytical testing, formulations, and processing used in food manufacture
Ability to work individually and in a team environment
Excellent verbal, written, and oral communication skills
Ability to learn quickly, strong leadership skills, be a self- starter
