DEFINITION This is an advanced level leadership position in the Division of Dane County Child Support.
Under general supervision, this position will assist the Management Team to ensure compliance with performance standards, ensure staff is aware of changes in state and federal program requirements regarding child support and monitor those standards.
The Lead Investigator will assist in training new and existing staff on state and federal changes and KIDS process relating to establish paternity; establish and enforce child support orders; locate absent parents, and their income and assets; and perform other assignments as necessary.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Research, develop and monitor internal processes to assist child support staff in their day-to-day work; act as a leader in the absence of managers in all aspects; develop, and assist in training new and experienced workers; monitors the work of other workers; maintain a small caseload to maintain program knowledge; utilizes clearly defined county, state and federal polices and procedures; provide ongoing updates and suggestions to management relating to agency improvements, and staff development; keep current on all federal regulations and state requirements for child support programs; performs case management activities required for documenting decisions and inputting information into the KIDS computer system; provides technical assistance to other workers; responds to questions from the public and other third parties; represents the agency on committees and workgroups; may perform quality control functions related to federal performance measures; sees customers, answers phone messages, and processes paperwork, assist in preparing management reports; requires independent judgment, initiative and discretion; and to do related work as required.
Education, Experience & Special Requirements Education, Training and
Experience:
Must have at least five (5) years of work experience in child support processes and laws.
Must be knowledgeable in the Wisconsin child support computer system (KIDS), and other systems including, but not limited to, CARES (CWW), CCAP, Summit, and Microsoft Office products.
Special Requirements:
A valid Wisconsin driver's license and access to personal transportation may be required for some positions.
Minimal overnight travel may be required.

Must be familiar with the civil legal process in a court system or law office, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
This program requires leadership skills, a high level of professionalism, ability to maintain confidentiality with staff and case participants, and the ability to work in a team atmosphere.
