DeWitt seeks a full-time Legal Assistant for its Intellectual Property practice group in the Madison, Wisconsin office.
A minimum of two years of experience in a legal environment, with at least one year of specific experience in Intellectual Property is preferred.
A DeWitt employee must be a team player, detail-oriented, have a proven work ethic, and have excellent communication skills.
Savvy technical skills, professionalism, and the capability to manage the workflow of multiple attorneys will make you a well-rounded candidate.
Responsibilities:
Manage the preparation and filing of patent applications in coordination with attorneys and clients Conduct regular follow-ups on all pending applications, ensuring all deadlines are met efficiently Maintain and manage an accurate and up-to-date database of all patent portfolios Assist in the preparation of legal documents such as patent applications, responses, and amendments Conduct thorough and detailed research on relevant laws, regulations, and legal articles related to IP Coordinate with attorneys to ensure all documentation is accurate and complete Handle confidential information with utmost discretion and professionalism Provide general administrative support to the IP team, including scheduling, correspondence, and billing Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of two years of experience in a legal environment, with at least one year of specific experience in Intellectual Property Microsoft Office Suite proficiency, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to grasp concepts quickly and efficiently.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
Acclimate to intellectual property practice group procedure.
Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
Strong time management skills and capacity to work well in a deadline-driven environment.
Dedication to accuracy and thoroughness in work product.
Prior law firm experience is not required.
