The accounting assistant will perform daily accounting duties to assist the accounting team.
Primary functions include accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, and reconciliation.
Additional hours to achieve benefit eligibility may be available.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Data Entry Process deposits and key into accounting software (A/R) Enter and code invoices in accounting software (A/P) Vendor setup and maintenance (A/P) Reconcile, code and data enter credit card statements (A/P) Data enter and/or import journal entries (G/L) Processing Post Management fees (A/P & A/R) Process electronic payments and checks (A/P) Process CPI rent escalations (A/R) Post monthly maintenance billings (A/P) Post monthly rent and miscellaneous charges (A/R) Process utility and parking billbacks (A/R) Process and electronically file 1099s (A/P) Reconciliation Reconcile tenant billback account (A/R) Reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable reports to the general ledger Bank account reconciliation Reconcile vendor account statements (A/P) Reconcile petty cash account (A/P) Reconcile intercompany balances (G/L) Reporting Prepare and save monthly financial statements (G/L) Provide supplemental financial reports to maintenance (G/L) Prepare quarterly financial statements for third party owners (G/L) Assist with quarterly work papers (G/L) Other duties as assigned

1) EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2) TECHNOLOGY SKILLS AND ABILITIES Efficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Yardi property management software a plus.
3) LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
4) MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, taxes, proportions, and percentages.
5) REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
6) COMPETENCIES Time management skills.
Ability to meet deadlines and plan work accordingly.
Communication skills - oral and written.
Ability to multi-task and remain flexible.
Data entry accuracy.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
