DWD is recruiting to fill a Fraud Investigator opening.
This individual may be based out of our downtown Madison location or our Menomonee Falls location.
This position may be allowed to work remote, up to most of the time but will need to report in person when business needs require.
High speed internet access is required to meet the needs of remote work.
This position requires occasional in-state travel and may require out-of-state travel, including some overnights.

Salary Information Starting wage is between $29.
00 - $37.
00 per hour, ($60,320 - $76,960) per year, depending on qualifications and experience, plus excellent benefits.

A 12-month probationary period will be required.
The classification title for this position is Regulatory Specialist Senior (schedule 07, range 03).
This position is not represented in a collective bargaining unit and is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan in effect at the time of appointment.
Starting pay may vary for current state employees.
Job Details Finalists for this position may be required to allow DWD to conduct a background check or other checks to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
For positions with access to sensitive federal tax information, FBI fingerprinting may also be required.

Extensive knowledge of Chapter 108 of the WI Statues related to Unemployment Insurance Law and policies related to complex criminal claimant benefit fraud, known imposter fraud investigations, and multiple victim and multiple imposter identity fraud investigations In-depth knowledge of criminal or civil investigative processes and fact-finding techniques (e.
g.
, interview techniques) Developing and presenting training and providing technical assistance Excellent oral and written communication skills to achieve business needs Any of the following experience would be nice to have:
Testifying in a professional capacity in an administrative or criminal proceeding Extensive knowledge of Unemployment Insurance Law and policies related to either employer aiding and abetting fraud investigations or fictitious employer investigations Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess information, evaluate inconsistencies and make sound decisions Conflict resolution strategies including methods to overcome confrontational interviewing How To Apply Note:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
