The Office of the Commissioner of Insurance (OCI) is filling an Insurance Examiner position that will develop to a subject-matter expert in life insurance and annuity products.
This position investigates and analyzes insurance complaints to determine company and agent compliance with Wisconsin insurance laws and regulations.
OCI regulates companies and licensed agents that conduct business in Wisconsin.

This position is located in Madison, Wisconsin and offers the possibility of a flexible schedule and telecommuting on multiple days.
Position Summary This position is responsible for performing professional level work in the examination and analysis of complaints concerning the operations and business practices of insurance companies, agencies, and agents.
The duties are performed under close supervision progressing to limited supervision.
The position specializes in at least one line of insurance; including organizing, collecting data, identifying, and documenting complaint findings, legal files, and company complaint reports.
Duties also include reviewing complex policy forms and rate submissions, investigating and working with legal staff on complicated issues involving interpretations of insurance law.
This position will progress to insurance examiner Journey specializing in analysis and resolution of more complex complaints and resolution in one or more lines of insurance.

Salary Information Starting hourly rate for this position will be $21.
00 - $25.
50 per hour depending on qualifications and experience, plus excellent benefits.
This position in this classification is assigned to pay schedule/range 07-04.
A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.
Job Details Due to the nature of the position, OCI will conduct background checks on applicants prior to selection.

Qualifications Minimally qualified candidates will have experience in:
Experience with researching, interpreting, and analyzing complex information such as statute, policy, administrative code, etc.
Experience in the insurance, legal, or regulatory fields.
Well qualified candidates will also have experience with:
Experience with life insurance and/or annuity products.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
