POSITION SUMMARY TRC is seeking an Environmental Health Safety (EHS) Scientist to join our Engineering, Construction, and Remediation team in Madison, WI.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with an eye for detail, a willingness to learn, and a desire to expand their knowledge in sustainable EHS compliance programs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS Perform environmental compliance duties including, but not limited to:
air permitting, SPCC planning, NPDES, SWPPP, EPCRA Tier II and TRI reporting, RCRA compliance, wastewater permitting and hazardous waste storage/disposal.
Some experience to manage, and monitor project budgets, scopes, and schedules; demonstrate the ability to lead and manage compliance and site assessment projects.
Some relevant experience working directly with industrial clients and display service-oriented attitude to address their regulatory EHS compliance challenges and issues Field environmental experience in industrial manufacturing plants.
Direct hands-on experience with air permitting, NPDES/storm water permitting and reporting and RCRA rules and compliance for multiple facilities.
Ability to make decisions and perform as an independent thinker and leader, but also collaborate with project team personnel.
Possession of a valid driver's license Strong technical writing and data management, organizational and communication skills.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies or equivalent.
WI Professional Engineering or other professional license preferred 5-10 years of experience in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or other related field.
Should have field environmental experience in industrial manufacturing plants.
Experience in the following areas:
EPCRA, NPDES, SPCC, SWPPP, etc.
Experience with performing ASTM E 1527-13 Phase I ESA's Some experience or interest in performing EHS regulatory compliance auditing, sustainability reporting and EHS management systems.
Experience with performing ASTM E 1527-13 Phase I Environmental Site Assessments Interface with environmental regulatory agencies for permit development and compliance.
Advance career knowledge by attending continuing educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies, etc.
Maintain a billable utilization target.
Apply quality assurance and quality control procedures.
