The Solutions Architect has three primary
Responsibilities: 1) the responsibility to work on IS initiatives to determine the correct technical infrastructure/architecture. 2) a directive and consultative role to IS development teams on the implementation of new and existing standards, technologies, tools, services and practices for software development, and 3) to assist with the codification of design templates, standards, and methods for best-in-class software development.
This position has broad responsibility for application architecture within a software development discipline. This position consults on the delivery of software products and ensures that software products for TDS Telecom are built in the right way using the technologies and approaches appropriate to our business and computing environment. This requires working across multiple project teams to ensure the best overall approach and use.
This position requires expert level technical skills in multiple areas. The position requires the ability to infer technology requirements implicit in generalized application needs, identifying development patterns, new services and ensuring that development projects align with the IS technology roadmap. The position requires the ability to take a holistic view of a business process that crosses multiple applications and recommend the creation of new services.
The position also requires strong collaborative skills and the ability to work with project managers, system analysts, other architects, developers to ensure business requirements are met, designs are aligned with IS technical strategy. This position will work with other members of the IS Architecture Team and the IS management team to assist with the development of technology direction and will help to identify and fill architectural gaps.
Work on IS initiatives to create software designs and new services that will successfully adopt the technologies and design patterns that accomplish our goals for high levels of software re-use and the migration towards a service-oriented architecture (SOA).
Lead research initiatives that will evaluate new technologies to fill a current architectural gap or future architecture need.
Assist with the development and maintenance of a common object library (COL) of reusable objects, assemblies, and application services as a resource for all software development activities within IS. Activities involved in development of a COL include identifying publishers and consumers of services, mapping and reducing redundancy of direct data views while abstracting data via the creation of services through a defined Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) approach, prioritizing the development of the services to be created.
Assists with the definition of technical standards and guidelines governing when and how to use various software development tools and technologies that align with TDS Telecom's Strategic Plans (IS Blueprint). Ensures development initiatives follow a menu of software development tools, methods, and technologies that IS teams must use.
Work with the IS Architecture Team and IS Management team to define the technology architecture for new applications and transitions plans for existing legacy architecture.
Scans and surveys vendors, user groups, consortiums, and other commercial enterprises to understand trends in software development tools, technologies, and methods. This position will help identify opportunities to use open-source software to reduce software acquisition and maintenance costs. This includes understanding trends in best-in-class open-source adoption techniques.
Review software designs for the successful adoption of technologies and design patterns to accomplish our goals for high levels of software re-use and the migration toward a service-oriented architecture.
Keep current with software architecture technologies and management trends.
Keep current with trends in data integration, application integration tools, Industry standards, best practices and Common Information Models (CIM).
Identify and introduce new best-in-class methods and practices for software development to augment the existing TDS Repeatable Process method for software development. The governing principle is to identify and adapt suitable methods for software development that will improve quality, while simultaneously reducing total development time and rework.
Keep current with development directions of key applications purchased by or developed within Telecom.
_Required Qualifications_
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems -OR- 4
year's professional work experience.
7
years of systems development, and/or IS Architecture experience, including 5
years of technical leadership experience in a complex process environment.
5
years' experience with appropriate information technologies (such asUNIX, Linux, Windows, relational databases, integration services, .NET, SOAP, XML, and JAVA/J2EE.)
Other Qualifications
Experience performing most of the essential duties of this position in some capacity in a direct or related role.
Strong written and oral communications skills, including the ability to communicate at very senior levels within the business organization.
Strong technical experience, database analysis and design experience, and creative skills. Solid working knowledge of data modeling, database languages, Relational Databases Management Systems (RDBMS), Operating systems, integration brokers and application integration.
Experience modeling complex business processes and translating them into understandable IT constructs.
Experience working with and administering Open Source software and Open Source Communities and Committees/Projects.
Strong critical thinking skills, including the ability to abstract and see patterns, and the ability to generate and evaluate multiple alternatives as a part of complex decision-making.
Previous experience in a leadership role (project or functional) is highly desirable.
Strong ability to develop, document, and communicate application architecture models in tools such as Visio Enterprise Architect or the Rational suite of tools.
Telecommunications experience with knowledge of broadband/data preferred.
Recent and strong application development skills in an object-oriented environment such as Microsoft .NET, C#, , C++, or JAVA/J2EE.
Experience working in a service oriented Architecture with knowledge of Web Services, Web Standards, and other application integration tools and practices.
Experience with Enterprise Architecture Frameworks (e.g. - The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF), Gartner or Zachman.
Experience introducing new tools, methodologies, and practices to development teams in a way that ensures successful buy-in and adoption.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
