Planning & Development Specialists manage small to medium sized projects ensuring that project tasks and outputs tasks are delivered on time, within budget, and within scope. They provide project management and leadership for business projects including: conceptualizing, initiating, planning, executing, controlling and closing. May support Planning & Development Administrators on more complex projects and work.Primary Accountabilities
Project Management (60%)
Plans and organizes small to medium projects by determining scope, deliverables, milestones, schedule and resources. Ensure the project team follows the plan.
Reviews requirements and deliverables so plan can be adjusted accordingly. Manages project change control process. Ensures the project/product is delivered on time, within budget.
Provides a risk response strategy to be used in monitoring and controlling all risks identified throughout project.
Interacts, collaborates and negotiates with all project stakeholders, business partners, clients and I/S and management. Reports project status to upper management and works to resolve issues. Provides advice for decisions to be made.
Manages the project work breakdown structure.
Directs project team, manages project resources and develops competencies. Works hand in hand with Business Technology Analyst, Specialists and Senior Specialists.
Business Analysis and Planning (25%)
Captures current and future state business architecture and analyzes gaps.
Reviews the divisions core/support processes and goals to maintain focus.
Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of a standard project management methodology for the division. Promotes project management within the organization.
Assists in the development of a lessons learned database. Reviews and takes action on improvements identified.
Business Strategy Support (15%)
Conducts competitive, feasibility and benchmark studies to provide information for strategic planning, project management, division planning, etc.
Identifies new business opportunities that support the division''s focus.
Assists with business rule alignment. Creates usable business rule repository.
Continually improves all aspects of the business by improving standardized activities and processes.Job Competencies
