IT programming degree preferred with experience developing applications and/or web services using C# programming within .net framework.
Position Objective
The Communications/Collaboration Technologist is focused on building technical expertise by providing second level technical support and assisting with the installation, maintenance and configuration of communication and collaboration technologies and solutions used throughout the enterprise. This includes telephony and customer contact management technologies and systems, social networking technologies and solutions, interactive multimedia communication technologies, and overall human productivity technologies and solutions. Employees in this job are responsible for identifying ways networking technologies and solutions that can be leveraged to improve customer experiences and employee productivity.
Primary Accountabilities
Communication/Collaboration Systems Support (60%)
Provides second level support for assigned technologies and area of specialization.
Troubleshoots and manages resolution of operational problems for assigned software or hardware technologies. Engages other more experienced team members to assist with difficult and complex issues.
Escalate issues and problems to external vendors and I/S management as necessary, ensuring prompt and accurate resolution and appropriate visibility.
Maintains procedures, standards and methods for team members and other I/S colleagues.
Builds understanding of communications and collaboration technologies within the organization through the creation of self-service options.
Shares knowledge and assists team members and other peers who are less experienced or knowledgeable in a specific technology.
Technology & Software Installation, Configuration &Maintenance (30%)
Participates in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of technologies, software and solutions following established procedures and change control standards.
Performs post-installation verification.
Assists in monitoring and managing the health of solutions and services by utilizing available tools.
Diagnoses and fixes basic system problems. When encountering complex system problems, is assisted by senior staff.
Maintains documentation.
New Technology (5%)
Maintains up-to-date awareness of industry developments and best practices in area of specialization.
Assists with research and development of new products or services.
Partners with clients, consultants, applications technologists, external stakeholders, and other I/S domains to understand business and systems requirements and proactively identify communication and collaboration technologies and solutions needed to support the business.
Participates in researching vendors, equipment, and software to support business needs.
Project Management (5%)
Manages own tasks within a project plan using I/S standard Infrastructure methodologies (SDLC).
May manage small to medium size projects, or parts of a project, holding others accountable to delivery deadlines and quality.
Complies with best practices that have been established for I/S projects at American Family.
Participates in post-implementation reviews to identify opportunities to continually improve processes.Job Competencies

Basic knowledge and understanding of one or more communications and collaboration technologies including: messaging; web/media server; multimedia customer contact technologies (call centers, web chat, email, etc.); multimedia productivity solutions (video conferencing, web conferencing, virtual meetings, etc.); unified communications and telephony technologies; social networking technologies; mobile messaging technologies and solutions; office productivity tools and solutions; virtualization technologies; and tools to support and maintain these technologies.
