Purpose of Position:
The purpose of this position is to develop, coordinate, promote and supervise after school clubs, extramural sports and other MSCR high school initiatives primarily at Vel Phillips Memorial High School.

Directly supervise a number of part-time, seasonal employees that work in MSCR programs throughout the year.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include planning, implementing, and supervising year-round programs for high school students.
The following duties are normal for this position.
They are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.
Other duties will be required and assigned.
Research, plan, design, implement and supervise a full range of after school, evening, and weekend programs that will appeal to a diverse audience of high school aged students.
Recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate program staff and volunteers.
Plan and lead staff training.
Work with high school staff to schedule facilities for after school clubs and extramural sports.
Promote clubs, extramural sports and other MSCR high school initiatives in the school newsletter and on the school website regularly.
Keep school administration, teachers, student services and office staff informed about MSCR clubs, sports activities and initiatives.
Recruit, support and train high school students in on job skills and youth work skills as part of the MSCR Leaders In Training Program.
Support the MMSD/MSCR Driver's Education Scholarship Program.
Conduct program visits to monitor program effectiveness, provide feedback to club leaders and coaches, assist in trouble shooting and finding solutions to concerns.
Arrange participant transportation as required for programs.
Establish and maintain a physically and emotionally safe program environment.
Ensure compliance with MMSD standards and compliance with MSCR participant code of conduct.
Serve as a liaison between MSCR staff and school personnel.
Meet regularly with MSCR Supervisor and high school staff, including the athletic director, principals and student services staff.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with program staff, participants, parents, community members, school personnel and other MSCR staff.
Track participation statistics, maintain necessary records, and develop and submit required reports to recreation specialist and/or supervisor.
Develop and implement program partnerships and contractual agreements other community organizations and businesses.
Work with the MSCR Middle School team on 8th to 9th grade transition opportunities and activities.
Monitor enrollment & registration of students in MSCR programs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in recreation, education, sports management or related field, minimum of two years' experience working in a recreational setting, preferably in the areas of youth sports and/or youth development, two or more years of experience supervising staff and volunteers; or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse clientele and staff in a courteous and professional manner, both orally and in writing.
Excellent organizational skills.
Experience working cross-culturally and/or commitment to work toward improving one's own cultural competence.

12 Months Working Conditions:
Flexible work schedule may include working Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 am and 6 pm.
Some evening and weekend hours as assigned by supervisor or dictated by program needs required.
Physical Requirements:
Tasks involve the ability to exert moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling objects and materials of moderate weight, twenty to fifty pounds.
Ability to operate a variety of office equipment (personal computer, phone, fax, copier).
Tasks are regularly performed in safe and comfortable surroundings without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
