This is a professional position providing academic advising and associated student services to advance the student toward degree completion.
Well qualified candidates will have:
A Minimum of 2 years professional experience that has provided an extensive knowledge of undergraduate academic advising and student development theory.
A strong desire to build relationships with students, colleagues and campus partners from other schools/colleges.
Understanding of FERPA confidentiality practices and an ability to be sensitive to the educational needs of a variety of students.
Excellent accuracy, organizational, and self-management skills while working in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, flexibility and ability to provide good customer service to clients.
Principal duties:
Work under the general supervision of the Academic Advising Team Lead in the Wisconsin BBA Advising Center and be an engaged member of the team of academic and career advisors serving prospective and admitted certificate and business students.
Serve as primary advisor for the Wisconsin School of Business certificate programs: Certificate in Entrepreneurship (CIE) and Certificate in Business (CIB). Advise on course requirements, preferred ordering, timing of courses, and alternatives when courses are full or other situations as they arise.
Work closely with the Weinert Center for Entrepreneurship staff and share information as appropriate to coordinate advising and academic services for CIE students.
Partner with the WI BBA Student Status Examiner to clear students earning the CIE and CIB for May, August and December graduations.
Interpret, monitor and examine policies and procedures of the BBA and certificate programs pertaining to student's academic progress.
Work in conjunction with the BBA Admissions staff to assist in the CIE and CIB declaration/application process as needed.
Review DARS (Degree Audit Reporting System) reports for accuracy, for planning future coursework, and for progress toward graduation.
Use PeopleSoft/ISIS (Integrated Student Information System), DARS, and other software applications to assist students with enrollment and advising issues.
Record and maintain interactions with students using a computerized advising notes system.
Determine need for referrals and direct students as appropriate to UW offices and support services on campus (i.e. Counseling or Health Services, Financial Aid, Career Exploration Services, etc.).
Work with diverse constituencies and demonstrate cultural competency.
Participate in Student Orientation, Advising and Registration (SOAR), group advising sessions and other campus wide events representing the Wisconsin School of Business, specifically increasing awareness of the certificate programs.
Represent, as necessary and appropriate, the BBA Advising and Weinert Centers on and off campus.
Work closely with the Wisconsin BBA staff on Compass, Induction, career fair, Celebration of Excellence, graduation events, special projects and events. Participate actively on Wisconsin BBA and University committees, especially those related to entrepreneurship.
Attend Weinert Center events, meetings and retreats as requested by the Weinert Center.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
