We currently have a full time position for an CATV Network Engineer . TDS Telecom (TDS ) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Telephone and Data Systems, Inc., a Fortune 500 company. TDS Telecom, headquartered in Madison, Wis., operates OneNeck IT Solutions LLC and TDS Baja Broadband LLC. Combined, the company employs 3,100.
The Broadband Systems Engineering team requires the ability to assess network and customer needs, and then determine the optimum solution balancing costs and network capabilities. Individual will partner with OSPE and other teams to respond rapidly to incoming projects. Individual must be knowledgeable about the current state of the TDS network and its capabilities, and must be aware of ongoing efforts to upgrade the network. Individual must be familiar with current programs including Broadband Stimulus, SHSD, ManagedIP, LCR, Switch Collapse, IPTV, and have a clear understanding of the network infrastructure required to support these programs and products in each market. Individual must be capable of creating high level designs and estimating costs quickly, and when necessary, produce detailed Engineering Packages to drive the equipment installation and turn-up.
Posses subject-matter expert level expertise for:
RF and Digital Cable plants and industry standard practices
Cable Modem Termination Systems
Hybrid Fiber-Coax Cable Television systems.
Multicast and MPEG video distribution and multiplexing
CWDM, DWDM and optical transport systems
Layer 1-3 Ethernet switching and routing.
Provide high level and detailed design and engineering input for all types of projects, including estimated capital costs, and allocations of those costs when needed.
Collaboratively prioritize work as needed to handle Expedites and Jeopardy situations in a timely manner.
Select and support and manage internal engineering contractors and external engineering vendors.
Partner with OSPE to create a seamless Engineering function in the Implementation pipeline.
Work with vendors to obtain quotes and issue purchase orders as necessary.
Work with Technology Development to update and maintain Standards as necessary.
Manage the Engineering process and workflow for continuous improvement; monitor internal customer feedback and conduct internal review sessions to ensure engineering output is consistent and high quality.

Associate Degree AND 4
years of industry experience designing, deploying, and/or maintaining voice and data networks OR 6
years of industry experience designing, deploying, and/or maintaining voice and data networks
_Network Specialist II
Required Qualifications_
Bachelors degree AND 4
years of industry experience designing, deploying, and/or maintaining voice and data networks OR 8
years of industry experience designing, deploying, and/or maintaining voice and data networks
_Senior Network Specialist
Required Qualifications_
Bachelors degree or higher AND 6
years of industry experience designing, deploying, and/or maintaining voice and data networks -OR-10
years of industry experience designing, deploying, and/or maintaining voice and data networks.
Other Qualifications
CATV Headend experience
Experience in the following: encoding, combiner plants, cmts management, multicast, Ethernet routing switching and transport
